Quest

QUEST, 2023 A porcelain wall installation comprised of 40 hand-thrown, hand-painted porcelain plates with 22 karat gold luster. This work is a feminist interruption and re-appropriation of an illustration from Owen Jones' iconic 19th century text "Examples of Chinese Ornament". Quest works to claim space for a woman's perspective in the history of design and craft. By deconstructing the familiar and making room for a visual reconstruction of the historic surface pattern, a new understanding of the material and a literal reflection of the "now" is presented.

Quest first debuted at Design Miami in 2023, where the work was acquired by the Peter Marino Foundation. Quest was shown as part of the celebrated Peter Marino Foundation exhibition at Tiffany & Co. Landmark store in Manhattan titled Culture of Creativity.

Culture of Creativity exhibited artworks by everyone from Louis Comfort Tiffany and Damien Hirst to Rashid Johnson, Sarah Sze, Julian Schnabel, Molly Hatch and Peter Marino, in addition to an array of 19th-century creations from Marino’s collection of Tiffany silver from the 1880s. The exhibition highlighted various masterpieces by the same artists whose artworks adorn the walls of the Tiffany & Co. Landmark store, offering a glimpse into the inspiration behind the pieces that Marino personally selected for the jewel of Manhattan.
